Fully Automated Inspection of Weld Seams and Surfaces

24.03.2011

In 2010 the unique optical inspection system VIROwsi has a new, more slender design and additionally improved features. VITRONIC introduces the third sensor generation at EuroBLECH.

The brilliance of VIROwsi not only lies in its innovative optics, but also in its sensible optimizations. The system reliably handles the inspection of extremely flat welding seams and highly reflective materials and provides even better access to the component and to the seam. The fully automated inspection of 100 percent of the produced components significantly contributes to qualitative improvements. Using VIROwsi for the systematic inspection of the welding process makes it possible to reduce additional costs for otherwise time-consuming and personnel-intensive post-treatment.

A reliable 100-percent inspection can also be realized with the system VINSPEC for the automated inspection of surfaces. At EuroBLECH, VITRONIC demonstrates the surface inspection sequence on cylinder head gaskets and cylinder heads. Defects on the mechanically machined surfaces of the cylinder heads are reliably detected and their position and size are precisely measured and seamlessly recorded. The position of the cylinder head does not have to be changed during the entire inspection. Line-scan cameras and matrix cameras inspect from below and from above in the production cycle during the transport on a roller conveyor. The bores can also be inspected with technoscope cameras such that all relevant areas of the cylinder head are included in the inspection. The statistical evaluations allow an optimization of the manufacturing process.

The inspection systems from VITRONIC are continuously optimized and adapted to changing requirements. Today, far more than 100 systems are in use in the field of weld seam inspections alone.
